KARACHI: Police on Sunday claimed to have arrested a man, said to be associated with the outlawed Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), after an alleged encounter in the Lyari area.

DIG-South Syed Asad Raza identified the held suspect as Meraj alias Mama and claimed that he did recce of BLA targets and provided information to the banned outfit about security institutions.

The police said that the BLA was involved in attacks on security forces as well as the June 2020 Pakistan Stock Exchange.

Mother of two killed over ‘honour’

A woman was bludgeoned to death in the name of so-called ‘honour’ in MPR Colony on Sunday, police said.

They said that Asma was killed allegedly by her husband, Hafeez, and his two brothers when she was asleep in her home in Abdul Rehman Goth.

West SSP Dr Hafeezur Rehman said that one of the suspects, identified as Inayatullah, was arrested.

She was mother of two children.
