ISLAMABAD, March 13: The Rawalpindi Bench of Lahore High Court on Monday reserved its verdict in the case of a person accused of involvement in the assassination attempt on Gen Pervez Musharraf in Jhanda Chichi.

Mushtaq Ahmad had been sentenced to death by a military court, and he was to be hanged on March 15, 2006. He moved the superior court against the verdict of the military court.

Defence counsel for the accused Col (retired) Mohammad Akram Advocate argued before Justice Abdul Shakoor Paracha that Mr Mushtaq was a civilian and he could not be punished through Air Force Act.

The punishment announced by the military court should, therefore, be set aside, he further pleaded.

The judgment is likely to come today.—Staff Reporter
