ISLAMABAD: Former Punjab chief minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi was discharged on Friday from the cardiac centre of the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims).

A senior doctor said although Mr Elahi was a heart patient, no fresh heart-related issues had been diagnosed.

“According to information provided to us, he fell in the bathroom of the jail, due to which his left rib was fractured.

The chest pain was due to the fracture, so painkillers and supportive medicines were provided to him,” he said.

“We kept him under observation and conducted a number of tests, including X-rays and a complete blood picture to diagnose the cause of the chest pain,” the doctor added.
