ISLAMABAD: Former chief minister Punjab Chaudhary Pervaiz Elahi on Wednesday shifted to cardiac centre of Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims).

Doctors of the hospital kept him under observation while they were diagnosing that if it was cardiac issue or chest pain because of the fractured rib.

Mr Elahi had injured in Adiala Jail after falling in a bathroom.

A senior doctor of Pims, wishing not to be quoted, said that all the routine tests which included blood complete picture and some others were held.

“An X-ray was also done to check the status of the fractured rib.

However the report is yet to be received. Mr Elahi has a history of heart related issues so it has been decided to put him under observation to know that if chest pain is due to fractured rib or heart related issues,“ he said.

He said that the patient may be retained in the hospital for a day or two.
