The UN Security Council is scheduled to vote on a draft ceasefire resolution at 10am New York time today [2pm GMT], Al Jazeera reports.
The resolution, which calls for “an immediate ceasefire for the month of Ramadan”, has been put forward by the 10 elected members of the Security Council.
Diplomatic sources have told Al Jazeera Arabic that they expect the resolution is likely to pass, suggesting that none of the council’s five permanent members are expected to veto the resolution.
The council was originally planning to vote on the resolution on Saturday but the vote was delayed while negotiations continued.
