ISLAMABAD: Police officials of the Criminal Intelligence Agency (CIA) along with their retired colleague were booked for kidnapping and illegally detaining a man, besides extorting money from him, sources told Dawn.

The case was registered against the serving police officials stationed at the CIA and their retired colleague with Industrial Area police station under section 365, 342 and 506 ii of PPC in response to a complaint lodged by Mohammad Ibrahim.

A police officer told Dawn that earlier the complainant had approached the Industrial Area police and senior police officers for registration of a case against the CIA staff and their former colleague for kidnapping and illegally detaining him and also extorting money from him, but to no avail.

Later, he submitted a complaint with the SSP’s complaint cell from where directives were issued to the Industrial Area police station for registration of the case, he added.

Although the police registered the case, no action has so far been taken against the CIA staff.

According to the FIR, Mohammad Ibrahim was abducted by the staff of the CIA and a retired official at gunpoint on March 4. Later he was taken to the CIA Centre in I-9 sector and subjected to torture, it added.

The police officials allegedly looted Rs17,000 cash and two mobile phones from him and detained him at the centre, the FIR said, adding that later he was released after sunset of March 5.

He lodged a complaint with the police on March 6 but no action was taken, the FIR said, adding that the complainant requested the SSP to issue order for registration of a case against the responsible officials and take action against them.

When contacted, the public relations officer for the police confirmed registration of the case, but did not divulge any details.
