NAROWAL: Due to incompetence and lack of attention of the District Education Authority, Sialkot, the government vehicles parked in the education complex have rusted away.

With the alleged connivance of the employees of the education department, the parts of the vehicles have also been stolen to be sold in the spare parts market, allegedly with the connivance of the department employees.

The engines, tires, wheels, seats and other parts of the vehicles are missing.

These scrapped vehicles were given by the government to various officers of the Education Department, like the district education officer (DEO) secondary, DEO elementary, DDC and other officers.

The officers of the education department used to use them for school visits and inspections. After the Punjab government gave new vehicles to the officers to work in the field, the district education authority parked the old vehicles instead of auctioning them.

Javed Iqbal, the chief executive officer of the authority, said the government vehicles were left in the parking 20 to 25 years ago.

He said letters were written to deputy commissioner and other relevant officers for their auction and they would be auctioned after receiving a no objection certificate from the authority.
