ISLAMABAD: A man was killed in an apparent robbery while two motorcyclists died in a road accident, police said on Friday.

In the first incident, a man was gunned down by unidentified persons in Shahzad Town. The deceased was identified as Akbar Ali, an official of the District Health Office.

According to the police, Ali had left for the market on Lehtrar Road to buy food items for Iftar when two persons started following him. When he entered a street, the suspects pulled out their pistols and held him at gunpoint. Shortly after, they opened fire on Ali as a result of which he sustained multiple bullet injuries and died on the spot. The suspects managed to escape.

Shahzad Town police registered a case against the unidentified killers in response to a complaint lodged by the deceased’s brother. The police said the motive behind the murder was yet to be established, however, the circumstances suggested that he was killed during robbery.

In another incident, two motorcyclists were killed after being run over by a vehicle in Tarnol, police said. The deceased were identified as Jawad Khan and Moin Khan.

The motorcyclists were hit by a vehicle at Chungi No 26 and died on the spot. The driver of the vehicle managed to escape from the scene. The bodies were shifted to a hospital while a case was registered with Tarnol police station.
