KARACHI, March 7: City Nazim Syed Mustafa Kamal on Tuesday prohibited entry/movement of all types of heavy vehicles going to and from upcountry within the limits of the city district government Karachi, except for Mauripur Road, SITE Avenue and the RCD Highway for 90 days.

All such vehicles will now only use the Northern Bye-pass while going to/coming from the upcountry via Super Highway. Any violation will be dealt with under the provisions of Section 144 CrPC.

The Nazim said that the issuance of the order has been necessitated as movement of all types of vehicles going to and from up-country within the limits of the city government is not only a major cause of frequent grid lock/traffic jam but the general public has reacted violently against the frequent grid lock/traffic jam and there is apprehension that occurrence of such a situation might create law and order problem.
