ISLAMABAD: The main event of Shivratri was held at Katas Raj Temple Chakwal, which was participated by hundreds of devotees including 64 pilgrims from India.

The event was held under the auspices of the Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) at the historic temple complex established around a holy pond ‘Katas’ dedicated top Lord Shiva.

The visiting pilgrims offered prayers in Sanskrit as well as their native languages, while leader of Indian pilgrimsVishav Bajaj lauded the facilities and care offered by the authorities in organising the festival.

“I thank Pakistani authorities for the immense love and affection that we received after coming to this country, all the facilities including the residence are comfortable,” Mr Bajaj said, adding “We are grateful to the government of Pakistan for the excellent condition of the Katas Raj temples.” He expressed the feeling of happiness and belonging while visiting Katas Raj temples.

The female members of the Indian delegation too expressed gratitude to authorities and lauded the protection of places of Hindu religious in Pakistan.

The devotees belonging to various parts of Pakistan too converged at Katas Raj to celebrate ShivRatri and collectively prayed for betterment and well being of the citizens of both the countries. Those who offered prayers requested the governments of the two countries to relax the formalities for religious visits and issue more visas for pilgrimage between the two countries.

The deputy commissioner and other senior officials of the Chakwal districtwere present on the occasion.
