TOBA TEK SINGH: A newly-married woman turned out to be mastermind behind the murder of her husband about whom she claimed robbers had killed him over resistance.

The Toba police spokesperson said on Tuesday that a month ago, just one day after their wedding, Asad, accompanied by his wife Iqra, was returning to his residence at Chak 295 GB from his in-laws’ house by a motorcycle. Iqra staged a scenario where she claimed her cellphone had fallen, prompting Asad to stop the bike to pick it. At that moment, three suspects on another motorcycle allegedly shot Asad dead while attempting to steal the phone.

Later, police arrested three suspects identified as Rashid, Adeel, and Mehran. During interrogation, they confessed that Iqra, who happened to be a friend of their relative Kareeman, had coerced them into assisting her. Iqra told Kareeman that she was married off to Asad against her will and threatened suicide if she didn’t help her kill him. They told police that they agreed to help her and under her plan, they hid by the roadside. When Iqra intentionally dropped her phone and Asad stopped the bike, they shot him dead.

Kareeman Bibi was also arrested in connection with the case. DPO Ibadat Nisar has announced prizes for the police team.

The concern is that if the government is thinking of cutting costs through the merger, we might even lose the functionality levels we currently have.
