LAHORE: The final declaration adopted by the Islamic Summit at its concluding session last night [Feb 24] has laid down the outline of an earnest plan not only for dealing with the Middle East situation and restitution of Jerusalem, but also for close cooperation and pooling of resources in the economic field. The Lahore Declaration … has made it … clear that the solidarity of the Islamic peoples … was based not on hostility towards any other human communities, but on the … eternal precepts of equality, fraternity and dignity of man.

The Declaration and the resolutions adopted by the Summit have emphasised the need of not only mutual economic cooperation and solidarity among Muslim countries, but also of the necessity of warning the … Third World to beware of manoeuvres aimed at dividing the developing countries in exploitation of their resources. The Summit approved resolutions on Jerusalem, the Middle East and the Palestinian cause, Muslim solidarity fund, development and international economic relations and other matters. In furtherance of these … objectives, the Heads of State directed their representatives at the [UN] … to consult together.
