BAHAWALPUR: Six people, including three women and a minor girl, were killed and 16 suffered serious injuries in a van-tractor collision at 69-Mor on Basti Malook-Dunyapur road in Lodhran district.

According to Rescue 1122, the van was on its way to Dunyapur from Basti Malook when it rammed into the rear of a tractor-trolley laden with husk.

Six occupants of the van were killed. They were identified as Muhammad Yousaf (48), Zareena (32), Zainab (7), Sajida (50), Uzma (18) and Faheem (21).

Those injured were identified as Shumaila, Humaira, Zahra, Aneela, Basran Bibi, Hira Fatimah, Nida Fatimah, Maryam, Saira Akram, Manzoor Elahi, Kaneez, Ayesha, Mehnaz, Farwa, and Ramzan and Muhammad Ali.

The deceased and injured were returning after attending a marriage party.

On receiving the news, Lodhran Deputy Commissioner Abdul Raoof Mahar and DPO Hissan Bin Iqbal rushed to the scene and supervised the rescue operation.

They went to the DHQ Hospital, Lodhran, also to supervise the treatment of 16 injured passengers.
