SUKKUR: Ghotki police on Sunday claimed to have arrested a person who had reportedly raped an 11-year-old young girl in a wheat field on the outskirt of Muhammad Ali Laghari village within the jurisdiction of Jarwar police station.

According to police, on Saturday, the suspect, a resident of Muhammad Ali Laghari village, sexually victimised the girl in the wheat field and fled.

When the Ghotki SSP received information, he directed the SHO of Jarwar police station to register a case and take swift action against the alleged rapist.

They said SHO Sadaruddin Lak, along with his team, rushed to the crime scene, took the girl to the taluka hospital where doctors examined her.

The police added that the alleged rapist had fled before the police could catch him.

They said the local police, on the complaint of the victim’s mother had registered a case under Section 376 of Crime No. 11/2024 against the alleged rapist.

Finally, on a tip-off the police caught the accused from Chakar Wah (water channel) bridge and locked him up at the Jawar police station.
