TAXILA: A man was shot dead over honour in the Domail area of the Basal town of Attock on Monday, police sources said.

Ghulam Fareed, the father of the victim, said that his 22-year-old son, named Usama Fareed, contracted a court marriage with Kalsoom, a native of Swabi (KPK), against the will of her family a few months ago.

The family members of the girl had been threatening the couple since their marriage. On Monday, when the victim was returning from his shop, the nephews of the girl, named Bilal and Zubair, intercepted and fired at him. As a result, he received a bullet in the head and died on the spot.

Later, the body of the victim was handed over for burial after an autopsy at the Tehsil headquarters hospital in Pindigheb. When contacted, a police spokesman said that both of the suspects were arrested after the registration of a murder case against them.

The same police also raided a gambling den and arrested four people red-handed while gambling. Gambling tools and bet money amounting to Rs 24 000 were also confiscated during the raid.

Meanwhile, a house was looted while two motorcycles were snatched in three different incidents in various parts of Taxila and Wah on Monday.

In the first incident, burglars broke into the house of Zubair Akbar in the limits of the Taxila Police station and fled with looted booty, including cash, gold ornaments, and other valuables amounting to Rs 200 000.
