KARACHI: Jamaat-i-Islami leader Hafiz Naeemur Rehman has said that the government has finally acknowledged that a “human error” caused around 80 per cent students to fail their Board of Intermediate Education Karachi exams.

Addressing a large number of students appeared in a test for a technology training programme called Bano-Qabil in Orangi Town, he said students of Karachi had been forced towards a bleak future as almost 80pc of the intermediate students were failed.

He said that initially the government refused to acknowledge any discrepancy, but following the JI’s pressure the government “confessed that a human error had occurred”.

He said the JI had been fighting for rights of the youth in Karachi at a time when the rest of the political parties were fully engaged in hollow sloganeering and electioneering.

Hafiz Naeem vowed that the JI would lift up the marginalised segments of the society, if it came to power with a prime focus on Karachi and its population.

He said his party was well-connected with the youth of the city who had potential to turn around the country economically and socially.

“I appeal you all to realise your true potential and come forward to play your due role for your own betterment which is directly linked to the progress and development of Karachi and the rest of the country,” he said.

If came to power, the JI would transform public-sector educational institutes and education culture in the province, he claimed.
