KARACHI: The ambassador of Philippines, Maria Agnes Cervantes, has said that her country’s trade volume with Pakistan stands at $209 million, which is very low as compared to other members of Asean region like Malaysia and Thailand with whom Pakistan’s trade volume is almost $2bn and $1.65bn, respectively.

Speaking at a meeting held at the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), she said a huge potential exists between Pakistan and Philippines to do business together to expand trade. She said business people must look at the Philippines, which could serve as a hub for distributing goods to the Asean region. Most of Philippines’ exports were going to Europe and North America, she stressed.

According to KCCI’s press release, she said that the embassy has been issuing visas to credible business people within seven days who want to visit the Philippines.
