HYDERABAD, Feb 27: Use of pesticides is declining in Sindh and farmers have been getting higher yields than in Punjab by adopting the IPM method of cropping introduced over the past few years.

This was stated by agricultural scientists and farmers at a seminar on “Integrated plant and soil nutrients management and integrated pest management” held here on Saturday. The seminar was organized by the Sindh agriculture extension department.

The director-general of the Sindh agriculture extension, Mr Naeem Korejo, was chief guest on the occasion. Ghulam Nabi Morai, a progressive grower, presided over the seminar.

Mr Korejo advised growers to avoid excessive use of pesticides and adopt the IPM method for reducing the cost of cultivation and increasing good quality farm produce without using any pesticide.—Bureau
