LAHORE: A Lahore High Court division bench will hear on Monday (tomorrow) a petition of former prime minister Imran Khan challenging the dismissal of his pre-arrest bail in the cases after his arrest and conviction in Toshakhana case.

Last week, the bench headed by Justice Aalia Neelum had directed the investigating officer to furnish record of the cases against the petitioner.

An anti-terrorism court on Aug 11, 2023, dismissed the pre-arrest bail of Imran Khan in seven cases of the May 9 riots for his non appearance.

The former prime minister pleaded in the petition that the trial court dismissed the bail on technical grounds on the basis of the circumstances not in his control as he had been imprisoned in Toshakhana case.

He asked the court to set aside the trial court’s order and direct it to decide the bail petition on merits.

The cases include attack on the corps commander’s residence, Askari Tower in Gulberg, Shadman police station, the PML-N party office in Model Town and torching of a container at Kalma Chowk.

JAIL TRIAL: A Lahore High Court full bench will hear on Monday a petition of PTI founding chairman Imran Khan to set aside his jail trial in a contempt case by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).

On Dec 18, the bench had issued a notice to the ECP for submission of a reply.

The bench is headed by Justice Aalia Neelum, Justice Shehram Sarwar Chaudhry and Justice Asjad Javed Ghural.
