Iraq lodged a complaint with the UN against neighbouring Iran over its strikes on the city of Erbil, Al Jazeera reports.

The official Iraqi News Agency (INA) reports the Foreign Ministry filed the protest with both UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and the current Security Council president, French Ambassador Nicolas de Riviere.

“This aggression is considered a blatant violation of Iraq’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and the Iraqi people’s security,” the ministry said in a statement.
