KARACHI: Police on Monday registered a case and launched investigations to ascertain the possible identity and motive of those who shot at and wounded journalist Syed Mohammed Shoaib Burney on Rashid Minhas Road in Gulshan-i-Iqbal on Sunday night.

The FIR was lodged on the complaint of the wounded bureau chief of Sunu TV channel against unknown attackers under Section 324 (attempted murder) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code.

The complainant told the police that he dropped his family members at a wedding hall in the same area and was trying to park his car on the service lane when armed motorcyclists opened fire on him and fled.

Meanwhile, SSP Faisal Abdullah Chachar visited the spot along with a team of the crime scene unit to collect evidence.
