ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) leader Shuaib Shaheen challenged rejection of his nomination papers from all the three constituencies of Islamabad.

Shaheen had submitted his nomination papers for NA-46, NA-47 and NA-48.

However, the returning officers of the three constituencies rejected his nomination papers for not submitting the details of property tax of his Sector G-9 house.

Shaheen filed the appeals against the order of returning officers before the Election Tribunal (ET) of Islamabad.

He adopted in the appeals that the property has not yet been transferred in his name, therefore, he was not dsuppose to submit the property tax of the property.

The ET comprising Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri and Justice Arbab Mohammad Tahir is likely to take up the appeals on Tuesday (today).

He requested the tribunal to set aside rejection of his nomination papers to enable him to contest the elections.

Talking to Dawn, Shaheen said the ECP had rejected 3,240 nomination papers out of which around 2,200 were filed by the PTI’s candidates.

He said that the PTI would take up this matter during the hearing of contempt of court case before the Supreme Court and also file appeals before the Election Tribunals across Pakistan.

He expressed the hope that the judiciary would take notice of this mass scale rejection and in order to create a level playing field, the PTI’s candidate would be allowed to contest the elections.
