KARACHI: Woman dies in road accident

KARACHI, Feb 23: A woman died in a road accident in Garden area following which the minibus bus involved in the accident was set on fire by the enraged people of the area on Thursday.

Police said that Zareena, 35, was crossing a main road in the limits of Nabi Buksh police when a speeding minibus of route (P-1) knocked her down. The woman was rushed to the Civil Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.

The errant driver was nabbed by the people and was later handed to the police. Meanwhile, following the incident, people set the minibus on fire.

SHOT DEAD: A young woman, Zareen, 30, died and an infant was wounded when unknown persons opened fire on her near Baber Market on Thursday.

The woman was taken to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre where she was pronounced dead. Her five year-old-son was admitted for treatment. Police are investigating the matter, but suspected some personal enmity as a possible motive behind the killing.

KILLED: A driver of a private company was shot dead in what police described a dacoity attempt in Site area on Thursday.

Police said that the victim who could not be immediately identified, was intercepted by armed suspects in the limits of Pirabad police station and was apparently shot dead on resistance. He was rushed to Abbasi Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

SUICIDE: A young man committed suicide in Korangi on Thursday. Police said that the victim identified as Asad, 22, was found hanging from the ceiling fan in his house in Korangi Industrial Area.
