SWABI: Two people, including a woman, died while a young girl sustained injuries in separate incidents here on Monday, the police said.

The police said Umar Rahim, a resident of Matta Swat, and presently living in Karnal Sher Khan village, stabbed to death her wife after exchanging hot words with her over a trivial issue.

Tur Sam Khan, father of the deceased, got registered an FIR against his son-in-law in Kalu Khan police station.

Meanwhile, unidentified assailants shot dead Niqab Ali and injured his young daughter outside their house in Karnal Sher Khan village on Sunday night, the police said, adding the reason for the murder and identity of the accused were not known.

Sher Ghani, a brother of the deceased, got registered an FIR with the Kalu Khan police station against the unknown assailants.

In a separate incident, a transgender person died by suicide on Monday.

DSP Jawad Khan told Dawn that the deceased, Qamar Zaman alias Divya, lived along with other transgender persons in the Link Road Market. He said the deceased hailed from Takhat Bhai, Mardan.

He said the deceased was living in a separate room and usually took ice drug as well.

DSP Jawad said the other transgender individuals informed the police after no response came from the deceased despite repeated knocks at his door room. He said the transgender person ended his life by hanging from ceiling fan.

He said the police collected the body and shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital for autopsy.

DSP Jawad said the reason behind the suicide was not known.

POWER SHOW: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf-Parliamentarians (PTI-P) will hold its first power show here on Saturday, local leaders said on Monday.

Former chief ministers Pervez Khattak and Mahmood Khan will address the gathering to be held in Malikabad area.

Malik Yousafzai, who will contest the Feb 8 elections from a provincial assembly constituency on PTI-P ticket, said the party had made all arrangements for the meeting. He claimed the power show would be a big surprise for its rivals.

Mr Yousafzai insisted there were strong prospects that PTI-P would form the next government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

However, political observers here said the voters were divided, and PTI-P would have to convince them to vote for the party.
