National athletics underlights

KARACHI, Feb 22: History will be created when the National athletics championship will be held under lights for the first-time at National Sports Training and Coaching Centre from Feb 26 to 28, it was announced on Wednesday.

Three-day track and field gala will be contested under lights starting at 7:00pm, NSTCC deputy director general Akhtar Ganjera said.

He said floodlights has been installed and donated by the Global Advertiser.

Around 1000 athletes representing holders Army, Wapda, Railways, Higher Education Commission, Punjab, Sindh, NWFP, Balochistan, Federal Territory Islamabad and Azad Kashmir will be featuring.

He said several teams from various parts of the country have already arrived and undergoing training and practice under lights.

Akhtar said NSTCC was also conducting two-day Inter-school athletics championship at same venue for Government schools of the city.
