ISLAMABAD, Feb 22 Shahid Zaman and Mansoor Zaman have advanced to the semifinals in the individual event of 13th Asian squash championship, according to reports available from Taiwan on Wednesday.

In the quarterfinals, Shahid Zaman beat Saurav Ghosal from India 10/8, 5/9, 9/7, 9/2 while Mansoor Zaman had the better of another Indian Ritwik Bhattacharya in straight games 9/1, 9/2, 9/3.

Another two Pakistanis lost their quarterfinal matches. Mohammad Azlan Iskandar of Malaysia ousted Majid Khan 9/3, 9/1, 9/7 and Ong Beng Hee, also from Malaysia, beat Farhan Mehboob 4/9, 9/0, 9/6, 10/8.

Shahid Zaman will play against Ong Beng Hee and Mansoor Zaman will face Mohammad Azlan Iskandar in the semifinals.

Accompanying the four Pakistani players as coach is Jamshed Gul Khan while SM Fazal is the manager.

All Pakistani players were given bye in the first round except for Farhan Mehboob who defeated Jun Matsumoto from Japan.

Second round: Shahid Zaman bt Kim Sung Young (Korea) 9/0, 9/0, 9/5; Mansoor Zaman bt Kwon Hyeon Jun (Korea) 9/0, 9/1, 9/0; Majid Khan bt Yasunori Ishiwata (Japan) 9/5, 9/0, 9/4; Farhan Mehboob bt Yasir Issadeen (Sri Lanka) /5, 9/0, 9/0.

Third round: Shahid Zaman bt Dick Lau(Hong Kong) 9/1, 9/5, 9/1; Mansoor Zaman bt M Nafiizwan Adnan (Malaysia) 9/2, 9/1, 9/3; Majid Khan bt Gaurav Nandrajog (India) 9/4, 9/7, 1/0, 9/0; Farhan Mehboob bt Yai Hang Wong (Hong Kong) 9/2, 9/3, 9/3.
