LAHORE: In a bid to preserve the rich historical heritage of Lahore, the Punjab Walled Cities and Heritage Areas Authority has launched the restoration and renovation project for the Shahdara Complex.
The project aimed to breathe a new life into the tombs of revered figures from the Mughal era, including Queen Noor Jahan, Asif Jah, Emperor Jahangir, and Akbari Sarai.
The comprehensive project involves meticulous efforts to revive the splendour of the complex. Notable features of the initiative include the installation of a special entrance gate dedicated to Queen Noor Jahan’s tomb, symbolic of her historical significance. Additionally, the restoration effort encompasses rebuilding damaged walls, repurposing bathhouses into modern public washrooms, and a sustained commitment to cleanliness and environmental conservation.
The authority has prioritised security measures to safeguard this cultural treasure and enhanced security protocols have been put in place to ensure the protection of the site and its visitors.
