ORANGE LINE

ORANGE LINE: The route of Orange Line runs from AO Chowk to Nishan-i-Haider Chowk in Orangi Town. It does not cover a major area in and around Orangi Town. The estimated population of Orangi Town is 520,125. There are many middle class and lower-middle class people who cannot afford private transportation. Therefore, they rely solely on public transport services. The authorities concerned should extend the route of Orange Line to cover Gulshan-i-Bihar and Ittehad Town so that the people of these areas may have an easy access to a comfortable and safe public transport services.

QINGQI RICKSHAWS: Thousands of passengers in certain areas of Karachi are facing immense trouble due to the suspension of qingqi rickshaw service in their respective areas. The stranded passengers, including myself, have no option other than travelling in mini buses. The drivers and conductors of these mini buses are unable to handle such a load of passengers, and they not only misbehave with the passengers, but also charge them unfair amounts. The Sindh government should restore the qingqi rickshaw service to overcome the worsening commute issue.

PASSPORT WOES: There are no proper facilities at passport offices in Karachi for the senior citizens. At the passport office in Malir, there is no counter for senior citizens, and no facility to deposit the fee inside the premises. As a result, senior citizens are left to the mercy of agents who deposit the fee in the designated bank branch that is quite far. Also, they are made to stand in long queues that takes an unnecessary toll on their health. They are also not allowed to have anybody accompanying them to fill out the paperwork and double-check the information. The authorities concerned should facilitate the process for senior citizens without any delay.
