ISLAMABAD: Aqeel Khan, the seasoned national champion, secured another title after defeating Mohammad Shoaib during the 9th edition of the Begum Kulsum Saifullah Khan National Ranking Tennis Championship here at the PTF-SDA Tennis Complex on Sunday.

The 43-year-old Aqeel’s skills coupled with experience helped him ease past his opponent Shoaib 6-2, 6-3.

Aqeel boasts the distinction of being the longest-reigning No.1 player in both singles and doubles categories in Pakistan.

Earlier, in the Under-14 final, Abdul Basit claimed the trophy by overcoming Hassan Usmani 5-7, 6-1, 6-1 while Shayan Afridi emerged victorious in the boys-girls singles Under-12 decider, outclassing Rashid Ali Bacahani 4-0, 4-2.
