LAHORE: Governor Balighur Rehman on Tuesday approved the inclusion of districts of Bhakkar, Mianwali, Lodhran, and Sara-i-Alamgir tehsil of Gujrat district in the jurisdiction of the nearest benches of the Lahore High Court, withdrawing these areas from the principal seat.

The Bhakkar district has been included in Multan Bench of the LHC, Mianwali district in Rawalpindi Bench, Lodhran district in LHC Bahawalpur Bench, while Sara-i-Alamgir tehsil of Gujrat district has been included in LHC Rawalpindi Bench.

“There was a long-standing demand of the district bar associations members and the public that they had to travel long distances to reach Lahore (principal seat) to pursue their cases, which caused them trouble. With this initiative, both the litigant public and lawyers will be able to follow

the cases in the LHC benches nearest to their areas,“ a Governor House spokesperson said.

The governor also approved the re-promulgation of the Code of Criminal Procedure Amendment Ordinance 2023.
