SUKKUR: Four people were killed and 11 others injured in a head-on collision between a passenger van and a truck at Baghan Khan Larro (turning) along the Indus Highway in Kandhkot-Kashmore district on Monday.

Officials at the Karampur police station believed that the accident took place due to thick fog in the area.

They said one of the passengers, Ali Akbar Ogahi, died on the spot and three others, Zaheer Bajkani, Abdul Razzaq Nasirani and Mehdi Raza, succumbed to their injuries while they were being rushed to civil hospitals of Sukkur and Larkana.

Residents of nearby localities started rescue work immediately after the accident and later police also joined them to retrieved the victims from the badly smashed van.

The victims were first taken to the Kandhkot Taluka Hospital but had to be referred to the civil hospitals due to unavailability of trauma centre at the taluka hospital.

Those admitted to the civil hospitals included Sandeep Kumar, Hameed Golo, Mohammad Ismail Bahelkani, Karamullah Bahelkani, Manzoor Shah, Aijaz Ahmed Nasirani, Murtaza Malik, Sikandar Ali Malik, Hasan and a woman, Noor Khatoon.
