PESHAWAR: Eight militants were killed in an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in the Sararogha area of South Waziristan on Sunday, the military’s media wing said in a late-night statement.

During the operation, an intense exchange of fire took place between security forces and militants, the Inter Services Public Relations statement added.

They were “actively involved” in numerous attacks against security forces and civilians, the ISPR claimed, adding arms, ammunition and explosives were also recovered from the deceased terrorists’ possession.

A sanitisation operation was being carried out to eliminate any other terrorists found in the area, the statement concluded.
