RAWALPINDI: The Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited (SNGPL) has established a situation room in its regional office I-9 to monitor the gas pressures in the region and to solve public complaints.

This was stated by Senior Officer Media Affairs Islamabad, Shahid Akram, here on Wednesday.

The Situation Room has been established at regional office I-9 Islamabad for monitoring the gas pressures in the region and to resolve complaints by dedicated teams, he said.

He also said that sufficient gas is available to cater to the needs of SNGPL’s consumers, while a project involving the laying of several larger-diameter pipelines to cater to low pressure has been underway.

While responding to a question, he said that due to the swift response of area complaint centres, individual and area complaints have substantially decreased in the region, and valued consumers are enjoying the facility under normal pressure.

Meanwhile, an effective load management strategy has also been devised and implemented all over the region, including Islamabad, Atock, Wah Cantt Taxila, Fateh Jang, Murree, and Kahuta, he said.

The spokesman further revealed that many major pipeline projects have also been completed in Islamabad , including the 16“ diameter pipeline from Rawat to Faizabad, and that rehabilitation of old pipelines is also in progress to eliminate low pressure problems in Islamabad.

He stated LPG cylinders are being provided to consumers at competitive rates while ensuring international quality and safety standards.

The spokesman also highlighted SNGPL’s anti-gas theft campaign being carried out in Islamabad in collaboration with FIA, in which a number of gas theft and domestic-to-commercial use cases have been traced, including the illegal use of compressors.

Persons involved in such unlawful activities have been arrested, and many of them are facing trials in court, he added.
