HANGU, Feb 15: District Nazim Ghaniur Rehman has held the provincial government and the district administration responsible for sectarian clashes in the city.

Speaking at a press conference here on Wednesday, he said that the provincial government did not cooperate with the district government to cope with the post-crises situation.

“Neither the provincial government nor the administration are cooperating with the district government”, Mr Ghani complained.

He said that he had requested the provincial government to enhance security in the district, provide additional police force and construct more police stations to maintain law and order situation.

“The provincial government did not pay attention to the demands”, he said that the authorities should take situation seriously.

He added that the clashes had caused widespread damages to the public and private property and asked the government to compensate the affected people immediately.

The administration had constituted an eight-member liaison committee comprising elders and ulema of both sects to maintain peace and tranquillity in the city.

The committee would cooperate with administration to restore law and order in the area.

The provincial home secretary and other senior officials have also arrived in the city and held meetings with the representatives of both communities.
