KARACHI, Feb 15: The Sindh government has ordered all public and private educational institutions in the province, including Karachi, to suspend academic activities for one day on Feb 16.

A Sindh government handout said on Wednesday that all educational institutions, including universities, in Karachi and the rest of the province would remain closed on Thursday.

A KU spokesman said in pursuance of the directives of the Sindh governor, who is also the chancellor of the public sector universities in the province, teaching activities, examinations, if any, and public dealing would remain suspended on Feb 16.

In a notification, Sindh Governor, declared Feb 16 as public holiday in all public universities and private chartered universities and institutions in the province.

IBA director Danishmand also said that institute will remain closed for all practical purposes on Feb 16.

A senior official of the Board of Intermediate Education, said that papers of HSC supplementary examinations scheduled for Feb 16 have been postponed under the directives of the Governor’s House. The dates for postponed papers will be given later.

A government official said that the decision would also apply to private educational institutions, including schools, as well.
