KARACHI: CM acts to end sugar crisis

KARACHI, Feb 15: Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim has signed the Sindh Sugar (Price Control) Order-2006 which would be effective immediately.

He has also signed the Sindh Sugar Order-2006, under Section-3 of the Food Stuff (Control) Act 1958, under which the cane commissioners have the authority to inspect stocks of sugar mills and wholesale dealers.

The officials can also seize the sugar stocks if they are in excess of the allowed limit.

Dr Arbab said that the Sindh Sugar Order-2006 would help regulate the sale of sugar by millers and wholesalers.—APP
