KARACHI, Feb 14: Children Cancer Foundation will be observing International Children Cancer Day on Feb 15 with its commitment to enhance public understanding that “cancers in children are curable”.

It was two years back that the International Confederation of Childhood Cancer Parent Organization had declared Feb 15 as the International Children Cancer Day, to particularly convince the developing world that cancers among children can be largely cured through timely diagnosis and proper treatment.

75 per cent of the children in the developed world and who may be suffering from cancer are being cured, Dr Mohammad Shamvil Ashraf, a paediatric oncologist said.

It is basically the ignorance and the belief that cancer is incurable that in many of the instances proper diagnosis of the sick children is neither ensured nor necessary assistance procured for regular treatment of kids confirmed to be inflicted with cancer.

He mentioned that the Children Cancer Foundation was a charitable organization supporting children suffering from cancers, for the last five years.—APP
