QUETTA: Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) on Sunday elected former parliamentary leader of the party in the National Party Nawabzada Khalid Hussain Magsi its president, replacing Mir Abdul Qudoos Bizenjo.

Senator Nasibullah Bazai, senior vice president of the party, administered the oath to the newly elected president.

Earlier in the BAP general council meeting, Malik Khuda Bakhsh Langove announced that the general council would elect new president, since Mr Bizenjo was no more party president.

Mr Bizenjo did not attend the meeting.

After the announcement, Nawabzada Khalid Magsi and Abdul Karim Agha submitted their nomination papers for the election. However, Abdul Karim Agha later withdrew his papers.

Party sources said Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani and some other leaders were also interested in the key position, but the council members backed Mr Magsi.
