CAIRO: The Pakistan Prime Minister, Mr Liaquat Ali Khan, who arrived here today [Nov 2] by air from Paris, called for unity among all Muslim countries, in a Muslim New Year Day message. “I wish Muslims the world over a very happy new year, and pray to Allah that during this year the troubles the Muslim world is facing, and [e]specially the Arabs in Palestine, will come to an end and that we shall be able to make marked progress,” he said.

[Meanwhile, in Karachi,] the Governor General of Pakistan, Khwaja Nazimuddin, performed the opening ceremony of the first residential colony to be built in Karachi after the establishment of Pakistan… .

The colony is to have 2,000 quarters out of which 800 are nearing completion. [It] will also have 200 small bungalows which will be built later.
