KARACHI, Feb 12: Labour leaders at a meeting of workers here on Sunday demanded immediate repeal of the Industrial Relations Ordinance-2001 and all other anti-workers laws.

Haji Yaqoob, Hafeez Arain, Habibuddin Junaidi and many other labour leaders addressed the participants of the meeting which was organized by the Habib Bank Workers Front.

They also demanded repeal of the Section-27B of the Banking Companies Ordinance-1962.

They asked the government to allow trade union activities in all organizations so that workers could make efforts towards protecting their due rights and counter the exploitative forces.

The labour leaders demanded reinstatement of all workers retrenched on the pretext of downsizing, rightsizing, or under the golden handshake scheme, etc.

The meeting also offered fateha for the late labour leader, S. P. Lodhi.
