LAKKI MARWAT: A 12-year-old boy was killed, and his mother and a young relative received injuries when a ‘toy bomb’ exploded in a house in Garbaz Bakkakhel area of Bannu district on Sunday.

Official sources said children found a toy and brought it inside their home.

They said that the ‘toy bomb’ exploded while they were playing with it. Consequently, Zabeehullah, 12, son of Zahidur Rehman, was killed in the explosion.

The officials said the injured included 36-year-old mother of the deceased and Waseemullah, 23. They said that the deceased and the injured were shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital.

A contingent of police along with bomb disposal experts reached the area after the explosion to collect evidence and defuse any other explosives if found there.

The police have registered a case and began further investigation.
