BAHAWALPUR: The Lahore High Court (LHC) Bahawalpur Bench on Friday served a contempt of court notice on the owners of a paint company, three actors and the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) for the exhibition of an objectionable TV advertisement depicting a courtroom and court proceedings, saying it was tantamount to humiliation of the court.
Bahawalpur Bench judge Mr Justice Anwarul Haq Pannu issued contempt notices on an application the petitioner, Dilshad Ahmed, who submitted the paint company in its advertised presented the courtroom and court proceedings in an objectionable and derogatory manner.
Three actors Mahmood Aslam, Faisal Qureshi and Tabish Hashmi were also named in the petition for appearing in the the commercial film.
The learned judge, while serving notices on the paint company’s directors and owners, Amir Sufi, Sufi Haroon Bin Haris and Umar Sufi, Pemra chairman and three actors, fixed Oct 12 for the next hearing.
