SARGODHA: A young man entered the court impersonating a lawyer and shot dead a man to avenge his uncle’s murder.

The suspect, identified as Raheel, son of Muhammad Saleem, disguised himself as a lawyer and entered the court of Civil Judge Muhammad Imran Haroon. He opened fire and shot dead Amanat Ali, the son of Muhammad Iqbal, a resident of Chak 82-NB.

The court staff overpowered the suspect and police arrested him.

Recording his statement before the judge, Raheel confessed to committing the murder, saying Amanat had absconded to Saudi Arabia after killing his maternal uncle and was recently brought back by police with the help of Interpol.

Regional Police Officer (RPO) Shariq Kamal said security at the court was being reevaluated and action would be taken against the police officials guilty of negligence.

forest trees: The process of computerisation of forest trees in Sargodha district has been started.

According to sources, orders have been issued to forest officers in six tehsils of Sargodha district to count the number of trees. This is the first time that such an exercise is being carried out in Punjab.

The forests department says it will now maintain the computerised data of all the trees in forest lands.

It says tehsil officers of Sargodha, Shahpur, Silanwali, Sahiwal, Bhera, Kotmoman and Bhalwal have been instructed to start the process of computerisation of the trees as soon as possible to combat theft of forest trees.
