LIBRARY SCIENCE: The University of Karachi is the only university in Sindh offering MPhil in Library Science. Since the current faculty was appointed, hardly one or two students are enrolled in this programme every year. This year, around 30 students appeared in the entrance test, and only one cleared it. There were no proper arrangements for the test. The candidates were given a bunch of papers with questions written on it to tick the correct options. The admission process lacked professionalism and transparency. Dejected students are applying to universities in Punjab to pursue their dreams.
The university vice-chancellor should take notice of such mismanagement.

DEATH POINT: The Karakoram Highway (KKH) is a lifeline for the people of Gilgit-Baltistan (GB). However, there are many landslide areas, ditches and cavities, making travel risky. Tattapani Road is one such dangerous point that lies between Baatcholai and Raikort bridge. During monsoons, the area remains submerged in water, and becomes a hotspot for landslides. Many tourists and passengers get stuck there even in light rainfall. The previous government of the region had suggested shifting the road to the other side, but that suggestion was only made once and has never been heard of again at all. The authorities concerned should really take action before tragedy strikes.

TRAFFIC JAMS: Traffic jams have increased across Korangi Road in Karachi. At times, these are caused by unprofessional handling by traffic police, but it needs to be said that most of the time traffic jams are caused by reckless drivers on the roads. Commuters are forced to waste a lot of their time and fuel during their everyday ride. The authorities concerned really need to find a proper solution to the problem.
