KOHAT: The district administration launched a massive enrolment drive here on Thursday with the cooperation of Sarhad Rural Support Programme and United Nation Emergency Children’s Fund.

The local social welfare department would act as an implementing agency for the provision of bags, shoes and books for the project.

Officials urged teachers not to discourage students with any disability by refusing admission to them but send them to Nishtar Academy, which had pick and drop and lunch facility besides experienced teachers for such children.

Deputy Commissioner Dr Aazmatullah Wazir and Additional Deputy Commissioner Reena Soharwardy inaugurated the drive at government high school for boys No.3 and government high school for girls No.1, respectively.

They addressed the inaugural ceremonies wherein teachers and parents were present in a large number.

They told teachers and parents to create awareness about importance of education among people as government was providing free textbooks, bags and uniforms o students.

The teachers were advised to enrol a maximum number of children and take advantage of the drive.
