DERA ISMAIL KHAN: The Dera police arrested four outlaws here the other day and recovered hashish and ice drug from their possession.

Saddar police arrested Ikram and recovered 480 grammes of hashish from him.

The city police arrested a notorious drug dealer, Ibrar Hussain of Mohallah Farooq Azam, and recovered 395 grams of ice drug and 300 grams of heroin from him.

The cantonment police arrested two wanted men, Bilawal of Basti Ustrana and Sher Zaman of Himmat.

Separately, district police officer Abdul Rauf Babar Qaisrani on Saturday directed the DSPs to speed up actions against criminals.

He issued the directives while chairing a meeting held to review law and order situation in the district.

Mr Qaisrani directed his subordinate officials not to be lenient in their efforts to completely eliminate street crimes and drug peddling. He said all possible measures should be taken to prevent smuggling of commodities, particularly sugar.

Also on Saturday, Peshawar Electric Supply Company’s superintendent engineer, Dera circle, Sardar Aslam Khan Gandapur said the drive against power thieves and defaulters continued indiscriminately.

Talking to mediapersons, he said different teams had so far recovered Rs11 million from power defaulters in the Dera region. He said during the last one week, the teams removed over 94 illegal connections and registered 48 cases.

BAIL REJECTED: Additional district and sessions judge, Dera, Mian Mahmood has again dismissed the bail application of two persons arrested in a case of torturing a nine-year-old boy in Islamia Colony here.

The cantonment police had arrested the two on August 8 for torturing a boy after tying him to a charpoy.

The men, Mohammad Saleem and Mohsin Siyal, who claimed the boy had stolen eggs from their home, had filed an application in the court seeking release on bail.

Earlier, the court had also dismissed their bail application on Sept 8.

The two parties had reached an agreement, and afterwards the two men had again filed an application for bail, which the court rejected.

Separately, the Parova police seized 500 litres of Iranian diesel from a vehicle, and arrested its driver, Mohammad Shakir.
