SWABI: The police arrested four facilitators of terrorists during search and strike operations in various parts of Swabi, district police officer Najamul Hussain said on Friday.

He said the operations had started on Thursday and continued on Friday, aiming to eliminate terrorists belonging to the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan and other groups to help establish enduring peace in the district.

He said in view of the orders of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police chief Akhtar Hayat Khan to maintain law and order in the district a series of targeted search and strike operations were launched in Chota Lahor, Swabi and Razaar circles against terrorists and their facilitators.

DPO Hussain said personnel of Rapid Response Force and policewomen were also part of the raiding teams.

He said the four facilitators were arrested during raids on their houses. He added names of the facilitators of terrorists could not be shared with the media as it would affect investigations.

Meanwhile, DSP Razaar tehsil Taj Mohammad Khan told Dawn that separate cases had been registered against the arrested men in different police stations.

Separately, the police arrested three inter-provincial drug smugglers and recovered over 13 kilogrammes of hashish from their possession on Friday.

DSP Topi circle Mohammad Shafiq Khan said the police arrested the three drug smugglers during checking of vehicles. He identified them as Noorzada of Peshawar, Qaiserzada and Tareefzada of Dheri Mian area of Charsadda district.

He said the hashish was concealed in secret compartments of the car they were travelling in. He said the drugs were being smuggled to Haripur district.

The Gadoon Amazai Industrial Estate police station registered a case against them.

DRC SETTLES DISPUTES: The dispute resolution council (DRC) settled 176 disputes of different nature in August, including 83 related to land, 39 money disputes and 54 pertained to people needing shelter.

While sharing the monthly report with the media on Friday after a meeting, DRC spokesman Rashid Khan Advocate said the body had received a total of 208 applications in August. He said the remaining applications were under consideration.
