LAHORE: The Punjab Local Government and Community Development Department secretary has cancelled posting orders of union council secretaries, where more than one official was posted.

The secretary says the transferred officials are being posted against vacant posts in different union councils across the province.

The local government department’s decision has ensued protests from the secretaries of union councils.

However, the department asserts that only one secretary will work at one union council because the finance department had sanctioned one secretary post at each union council.

Meanwhile, the local government secretary has written a letter to the LDA to retrieve parking spaces in plazas, which have been converted into shops or kiosks.
