SWABI: Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology and US-based ArchiWiz company on Sunday signed a Memorandum of Understanding to collaborate in various domains, including academic exchanges, research and development, technology transfer and innovation.

Prof Fazal Ahmad Khalid, Rector GIK Institute, and ArchiWiz chief executive officer Daniyal Feroz attended the signing ceremony held online at the GIK Institute in Topi here.

Both GIKI and ArchiWiz expressed their dedication to fostering joint initiatives that will drive technological advancement and growth in their respective fields.

The MoU emphasises the exchange of scientific, academic and technical information, as well as the opportunity for faculty, staff and students to collaborate on research, teaching and discussions.

Launching joint research and development the two parties will engage in collaborative research and development activities, focusing on areas of mutual interest. This includes enhancing building information modelling (BIM) implementation in Pakistan and conducting joint simulations and experiments.

The MoU promotes joint initiatives to foster innovation, entrepreneurship and the startup ecosystem at GIK Institute.

This MoU signifies a significant step in bridging international boundaries for academic and research collaboration, ultimately aiming to create innovative solutions and promote technological progress. Both institutions are enthusiastic about the potential that this partnership holds and look forward to realising their shared goals.

TWO INJURED: Two people were seriously injured when a rickshaw and a motorcycle collided in Ismaila area on the Swabi-Mardan Road on Sunday, Rescue 1122 officials said.

They said Huzaifa Khan 14, a resident of Jamalabad, and Amanullah, 35, of Ismaila village were injured. They were taken to Bacha Khan Hospital Complex, Shahmansoor.

Separately, body of a youth was found in a deserted area of Chota Lahor on Sunday.

The police said the deceased, Osama Khan, 22, who was killed by unidentified assailants, belonged to Zakarya Dheri village. He had left his home two days ago, but did not return, his family members said.

The parents of the deceased were informed by the locals that the body of their son was lying near Shago Bridge.

SHO Chota Lahor police station Altaf Khan said the deceased was shot from a close range.

The police registered an FIR against unknown suspects and started investigations.
