KARACHI, Feb 4: Another police officer, who actively participated in the Karachi operation, was gunned down by unidentified assailants in Korangi on Saturday. Police said that Sub-inspector Mohammad Bukhsh, 45, posted in Saddar Investigation Wing, was intercepted by some armed men hardly 50 yards away from his residence in Sector F, Bhitai Colony near Shamim mosque. They pumped mul-tiple bullets into his body and fled.

Mohammad Bukhsh was taken to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. The victim was an active member of the then police team carrying out Karachi operation under the command of the then interior minister Naseerullah Babar. The funeral prayers were offered here at the police headquarters in Garden and his body was dispatched to his native town in Punjab.

Since the present government came to power, 28 police officials associated with the Karachi operation have been killed including Zeeshan Kazmi, Taufeeq Zahid, Haider Beg, Mehmood Beg, Rao Akhtar, and others, police sources said.
